Flying from Gloucestershire Airport allows for easy access to most types of airspace and airfields
that students and qualified pilots alike may wish to experience.
Large areas of uncontrolled airspace cover the west midlands and the south west, thus allowing
for straight forward arrivals and departures whilst the varied scenery of Gloucestershire,
the Severn Estuary and the Welsh borders offer a splendid backdrop to the flying classroom.
One of the oldest flying clubs in the UK
In early 1927, the Cotswold Aero Club was formed to serve local aeroplane enthusiasts. The first aeroplane to serve at Cotswold Aero Club was a D.H. Gypsy Moth and the club house was described as an "outstanding example of rustic architecture". Throughout the pioneering years Cotswold Aero Club had the great pleasure to host aviation celebrities such as Amy Johnson and Sir Alan Cobham.
The outbreak of WW2 saw the entire airfield requisitioned by the military and not reopened to civilians until 1950.

Many changes have taken place during the intervening years but our principles have always remained in providing our enthusiastic members with an outstanding fleet of modern European aircraft at affordable prices.
Today more than ever, Cotswold Aero Club endeavours to offer professional and competitive training. We have very well maintained aircraft, dedicated instructors and a modern luxurious club house with a great atmosphere attached to our superb hanger where our aircraft are kept.
